Happy new year of the Snake! (and a freebie)
Frohes Mond-Neujahr!
Heute beginnt nach dem chinesischen Kalender das Jahr der (Wasser) Schlange. Und nachdem der Papier-Drache letztes Jahr so gut angekommen ist, habe ich dieses Jahr eine Papertoy-Schlange für Euch :-)
Es gibt auch sie in vier Farbvarianten, plus einer Blanko-Version zum selber bemalen. Das Besondere: indem man Seite 2 des PDFs mehrfach ausdruckt, kann man die Schlange beliebig verlängern! :-D
Eine Video-Anleitung ist jetzt HIER zu finden in Arbeit, aber da ich nicht oft mit Videos arbeite, braucht das doch etwas länger.
Ich wünsch Euch ganz viel Spass beim basteln!
P.S. Wenn ihr die Schlange bastelt würde ich auch sehr gerne Fotos (per Mail) bekommen!

According to the chinese calendar today starts the year of the (water) snake. And since last year’s paper toy dragon was quite popular, I created a paper toy snake for this year! :-)
There are four different colors plus one blank version to color yourself. The special thing is: if you print page 2 multiple times you can make the snake as long as you like! :-D
I’m working on a video tutorial, but since I don’t do video editing very often, it takes me a little longer.

Entdeckung
Neulich ist mir aufgefallen, wie hübsch eigentlich diese kleinen grünen Glasflaschen sind, in denen man z.B. Zitronensaft kaufen kann! Perfekt als kleine Vasen! Jetzt will ich ganz viele haben! Was meint ihr? Ideen?

DIY Schneeflocken-Anhänger
Letztes Jahr habe ich sehr hübsche, aber auch irre aufwändige Schneeflocken-Plätzchen gebacken. Dieses Jahr war ich fauler und habe mich eher an die einfacheren Sorten gehalten. Aber weil ich mich so in die Schneeflocken mit Lochmuster verliebt habe, wollte ich dieses Jahr eine etwas haltbarere Version machen. Essbar sind diese zwar nicht mehr, aber dafür sehen sie sehr hübsch als Baumschmuck oder Geschenkanhänger aus!
Last year I made some nice looking christmas cookies but since they were so time-consuming I didn’t make them again this year. However I liked the look of them so much I decided to make similar, longer lasting ornaments out of modelling clay. You can find the english instructions at the end of this post.

Ursprünglich ist diese Wild-Trophähe aus Papier ebenfalls für den Designgipfel entstanden, aber nachdem sie erstmal nur ein Einzelstück ist, konnte ich mich nicht recht davon trennen und habe sie einfach behalten :-)
Mal sehen, ob ich daraus eine kleine Serie mache….
Originally I made this paper deer trophy for the Designer’s market last week, but since it is a single copy for now, I decided to keep it :-)

3D Diorama ‘Heroes of the Valley’
Vor ca. einem Jahr haben Jakob, Florian und Simon zusammen ein Bild gemalt. Alle haben abwechsend an dem Bild gearbeitet, die Ideen des Vorgängers weiterentwickelt (oder auch verworfen), bis am Ende ’Heroes of the Valley’ herauskam.
Auf Jakobs Blog kann man sehen, wie das Bild aus abstrakten Formen entstanden ist.
Vor kurzem ist dann mit Flo die Idee entstanden, das Bild als 3-D Diorama umzusetzen und letztes Wochenende haben Jakob und Simon endlich ihre Exemplare bekommen!
Hat Spaß gemacht!
About a year ago Jakob, Florian and Simon collaborated on an illustration. They took turns in working on the picture until ‘Heroes of the Valley’ was finished.
You can see how the picture was created from an abstract form on Jakobs blog.
Then, recently Flo and I came across the idea make a 3D diorama of the Illustration and now Jakob and Simon finally got their copy!
It was a lot of fun to make!

Yesterday the 4th chapter was launched and you can read all chapters online for free (in many different languages!). There is also a free app for tablet pcs. The app was funded by a kickstarter campaign in 2011, and now you can buy additional content for the app to support the project. But to secure the financial future of the project, this probably won’t be enough over the long run.
That’s why Daniel and his wife developed the Wormworld Saga Treasure Chest as a new kickstarter campaign. It contains a first lineup of different fan items for the backers of the project.
